Orientation Express: Assist The City Harvest Mobile Market - Staten Island

Attend a quick 30 minute orientation to New York Cares then volunteer directly afterward. Following the orientation, volunteers will help distribute fresh produce (provided free of charge to pre-registered NYCHA residents) through the City Harvest Mobile Market, a program designed to fight hunger in low-income communities where nutrient dense food is expensive and inaccessible.

City Harvest pioneered food rescue in 1982. Today, more than 1 million New Yorkers are struggling to put meals on their tables. City Harvest will collect 59 million pounds of excess food this year and deliver it free of charge to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries and other community food programs across the five boroughs. To date, City Harvest has rescued and delivered over 600 million pounds of nutritious food for hungry New Yorkers.
