Director, Community Programs

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Director of Community Programs manages five full-time and two part-time staff that plan volunteer delivered programs for nonprofits and schools. Programs include our ongoing, year round programs, as well as, one time programs designed for our corporate sponsors. Community Programs fight food insecurity, tackle environmental initiatives, combat senior’s isolation, serve and empower persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, alleviate poverty through the VITA Tax assistance program, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Establish departmental strategies, goals, work plans and timelines, and monitor progress;
  • Oversee development and delivery of high-quality team-based volunteer service programs;
  • Develop curricula or program resources for new and existing community programs;
  • Collaborate with fundraising to develop, implement, and report back on government, foundation, and corporate grants;
  • Assist the Community Programs team in planning workshops and events for volunteers, volunteer leaders, and our community partners;
  • Cultivate and maintain collaborative partnerships with non-profits, government agencies, and corporations;
  • Create post-event reports and analysis of project results and data;
  • Manage AmeriCorps National Service members where appropriate;
  • Create and implement actionable staff development plans for each team member
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred)
  • At least five years of program management experience
  • Experience working with corporate volunteers
  • Supervisory experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and long-range planning skills
  • Ability to manage many projects simultaneously and to set priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Experience creating and managing a budget of over $1M
  • Ability to be flexible, keep a sense of humor, and solve problems with confidence
  • Ability to move project supplies weighing up to 40 pounds from vendors to project sites as well as within project sites
  • The willingness to work beyond traditional working hours and schedules

Salary

Mid 60’s, Commensurate with experience
