Honoring 9/11 with Service
In honor of September 11th, New York Cares teamed up with MyGoodDeed, an organization that encourages people everywhere to set aside time on or around September 11th to perform good deeds that help others in need. Jordin Sparks of American Idol, along with other members of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, joined us in the classrooms of P.S. 124 as we read and made crafts with second graders and revitalized their library. Two of our volunteers, Muthu Vairavan Kuttaiyan and Alan Ginsberg, as well as the P.S. 124 P.T.A, teachers, and administrators received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award in recognition of the hundreds of hours they have spent helping to make New York a better place.
It was a great time, and a great deed.
